Hawaii Kai - Hana's Roots

This is a really cool photo of the beginning of the community of Hawaii Kai on the island of Oahu.  Hawaii Kai was originally developed by Henry J Kaiser in the 1960s.  This was back in the day when KoKo Head was virgin territory.  

Our home was built shortly after Henry Kaiser built his estate.  What an amazing place to grow up...surfing China Walls; Point; Pilliars; hiking over the mountain to Hanauma Bay; fishing; sailing and body surfing Sandy beach around the corner.  I was truly blessed growing up in the islands...thanks to my father who had the sense to bail on Wall Street for the peace of the islands.  As he always said while we were growing up "lucky we live Hawaii".
